Dock & Bay

Dock & Bay

When friends Ben and Andy met on working in the Lloyd's Banking group digital division, they instantly bonded over a mutual love of travel and desire to escape the corporate treadmill. Every opportunity of time off was an opportunity for them to embark on a new intrepid adventure, the only constants their friendship and passion for the unknown...

Fed up with the daily toil, Ben and Andy worked late after work (in the pub), on a plan that would ensure they would never have to go back to the standard nine to five ever again... and came up with a modern solution to every traveller and backpacker's nightmare...

They only went and reinvented the towel...

'They get wet, smelly, covered in sand, they take up a lot of room' says Andy at a London launch in Bounce Shoreditch as he presents me a candy striped Dock & Bay microfibre towel which looks and feels more like satin than terrycloth.

While microfibre has been around for a while, used for cleaning cars and widescreen TVs, what Ben and Andy have done is reimagined this material to create a high-quality towel that dries instantly, takes up minimal room and repels sand. With the timeless, colourful and classically British design printed on both sides, this towel literally POPS with colour, youthfulness and fun.

'People really live the brand' says Andy, 'its all about being spontaneous, making the most of life and seeing new things. We didn't really like the status quo, that's why we left banking. We were never really traditional bankers – I was more just there to make the jokes.'

Ben and Andy were lucky to gain the interest of mega-investor Deborah Meaden on BBC's Dragon's Den. I spoke to Deborah who is very excited to be working with the pair, 'This isn't just some nonsense created by a team of marketers in a basement, these guys really went out there and lived it!'

Dock & Bay are now looking for three pairs of friends to join them and a group of influencers on a special trip to Bali to be their new authentic brand ambassadors. The lucky winners will be flown out for an ALL INCLUSIVE, week long stay in a dream villa, where they will take a starring role in the ‘Colour of Summer’ campaign. The chosen ambassadors will get to take part in some of the most fantastic opportunities the island has to offer, from hiking nd Instagram-worthy waterfall, to sunrise yoga in the mountains nd plenty of water fights! ‘We want authenticity, that’s how the Colour of Summer villa came to us. We want to put together everyday people that share the same fun loving, adventurous attributes as the brand, and see what unfolds.’ says Andy.
